Leah Ballantyne (Mikisew Iskwew) is a community leader and the first member of her Cree Nation to become a lawyer. Her family lives in Abbotsford South. She attended Abbotsford Senior Secondary, worked on farms across the valley and later practised law in downtown Abbotsford, helping local families. She spent eight years on Sumas Mountain protecting the watershed, river and salmon.
A graduate of Douglas College and UBC Law, Leah completed a Master of Laws at the University of Hawaiʻi as class valedictorian. In nearly two decades of practice, she has advised First Nations, local, provincial and federal governments and international bodies, testified before Parliament and worked with Senators, and led community engagement on a national trade corridor. She has served as vice-chair of a health authority board and on the BCIT board.
Love making phone calls and talking to people? Are your thumbs ready to text? Do you have a lawn that would look great with one of our signs? We’d love to hear from you.
Thanks for supporting Leah Ballantyne and David Eby’s BC team. Let’s keep moving BC forward — for all of us.
We’re building BC strong— protecting your family and the things that matter most to you.
